For example with the most beautiful parrot of the Dutch Kingdom. ‘Lora’ they are called, the wild parrots  of Bonaire (yellow shouldered Amazon, Amazona barbadensis). At one time they were kept in almost every family. That was banned in 2002 when they were on the brink of extinction due to illegal trade. There were around 400 wild loras left. Another threat is the deterioration of their habitat. Bonaire is struggling with deforestation, erosion and drought; the number of inhabitants is growing and there is a lot of construction. There are now around 1200 lora’s in the nature areas left on Bonaire. The illustration is digitally drawn.
